So as I posted last week, this year I am making homemade gifts. The first gift I’ve finished is handmade soap. I used a recipe I found online for goats milk honey oatmeal soap, though I made some adjustments to use what oils I could find. I must say, I think the experiment was quite successful.

I realized this week I have little to no money for holiday gifts this year. While I did good by setting money aside in a special account for the past few months to cover our Christmas Eve “feast of the seven fishes” traditional dinner, I did not specifically set aside gift money, so with the loss of our second income, there is none.

Every night I take multiple pharmaceutical medications for blood pressure, indigestion, allergies, hormones,…

Shades of Green
As I read through my various books on green housekeeping and personal care, and peruse green blogs and their comments, I’m often struck with how one persons green is another person’s toxin. There seems to be quite a spread of opinion on the subject of what’s actually “green”. I’ve decided there’s really no right or wrong in this, there’s simply different shades of green.

Being Sick Naturally

For the past several days I’ve been sick with a terrible headcold that’s going around. It came hard on the heels of a terrible multi-day allergy attack I had while trying to do some long-overdue decluttering my laundry room. I’m finally over all my congestion and a day where I had no voice, and hopefully soon I’ll be over the nagging tickling cough.
Mostly out of sheer sickness/laziness, I took care of my cold with what I had on hand in my house, applying new greener techniques to my symptoms, being sick as naturally as possible. Here’s a few things I’ve learned….
